This landmarked Italianate historic brownstone in Fort Greene, Brooklyn was originally an SRO that had many units. Our client’s wish was to turn it into 3 luxury condominium units. Meshberg Group designed the 3 duplex units and meticulously restored the exterior according to landmarks.
During the gut renovation, we preserved the original details in the public spaces as much as possible. A local craftsman painstakingly recreated the stairs and balustrade, and the original floor to ceiling ornate mirror remains a focal point in the foyer.
No detail was spared in the individual units. From the grand entrance doors to the rift oak floors in an ultra matte finish, a feeling of quality imbues upon entering. Bespoke kitchens are the heart of the homes. Laid out in the center of the open floor plans, the kitchens anchor the living and dining areas. Custom rifted oak cabinets with a dark gray stain, Italian statuary marble counter tops, Waterworks kitchen plumbing fixtures, and Miele appliances elevate all three units.
The baths were designed to be urban sanctuaries. The four fixture master baths feature a neutral palate to create a warm welcoming feeling. Free standing soaking tubs, custom floating walnut vanities, waterworks fixtures in polished nickel, and separate water closets with pocket doors of frosted glass are anchored by custom patterned marble floors. Walls are clad in neutral sandstone to create a soothing spa-like space. Guest baths feature stacked porcelain brick tiled walls, gray hexagonal porcelain floor tile, Waterworks fixtures, and custom walnut vanities. The modern jewel box powder rooms shine with custom made floating quartzite sinks, walnut trim capped Carrara marble walls, and custom Carrara marble mosaic floors.
