The owners of a 2,500-square-foot loft in the Sweeney Building — one of DUMBO’s marquee residential addresses — sought a complete interior renovation that would feel fresh and cohesive without obscuring the loft’s industrial character. The design challenge was restraint: how to add considered finishes and custom elements while letting the space’s natural materials and scale carry the composition.

A marquee DUMBO condominium, this project was a complete renovation. The owners of this 2,500 square foot loft wanted a clean fresh palate, so our design intent was to showcase the natural materials of the loft’s wood floors and new danby marble counters by complementing them with simple white lacquered cabinets and clean custom millwork. A new kitchen along with new radiator covers, master closets, lighting layouts, entry closet and custom hardware were all installed to create flow and continuity in this fresh living space.

Simple forms, natural materials, and meticulous millwork — the building’s industrial past honored through deliberate understatement.
